Focus on the future of movie industry

the various participants presented exposes on the future of the Cameroonian movie industry and how to make it moez income generating.

A  panel of diplomats, University dons, and famous filmmakers met at a conference which took place at the FENAC 2016 village on November, 12 to discuss on the future of industry. Various speakers like Francoise Collet, Professor Boyomo Assala, Nkanya Nkwai and a host of others were among the speakers at the event moderated by filmmaker Frank Olivier Ndema.

The first expose which focused on "the conservation of the records of the former future"  was presented by Tevos Adrien who exhorted local film-writers to make conservation packs and to ensure the use of quality materials.

The director of ASMAC, Pr Boyomo Assala reminded the difference between perishable and non-perishable works to men of the 7th Art. In addition, he called on them to advertise their goods in order to make a living of it.

The European Union (EU) to Cameroon, Francoise Collet  exhorted Cameroonians to value their culture rather than wait for subventions from outside. This is because culture accounts for only 0,2% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Cameroon whereas there is an important cultural inheritage . After a question of the film director Marie Noel Niba, she informed the public that the next call to a participative financing or financing of the EU will take place at the beginning of 2018.

 Various sponsors promised to help the industry like the Director of Ecobank  who said his bank has been supporting the industry and will continue to do so.

The last speaker to take the floor was actor/producer and film-writer Nkanya Nkwai. In his speech he decried the state of the industry especially the fact that foreigners are used for adverts than the home based actors which was not fair.The filmmaker in addition reminded the precarious conditions of their activity and solicited the government's  attention. According to him, the State must take a numbers of measures to accompany the cinematographic sector and to develop the distribution and sale sector.

Many filmakers took part in this meeting among which Arthur Si Bita.
